Ways to add surveys to your platform

If your customers ask for surveys, forms, or feedback inside your product, there are four common ways to deliver them. Each fits a different situation. This page describes the approaches in general terms and lists what ResponseDock, an embeddable white-label survey engine, does and does not cover.

Build surveys in-house

Your team designs and maintains its own survey builder, form renderer, results views, and exports.

Good fit when: Surveys are core to your product, or you need behavior no off-the-shelf engine offers.

Trade-off: A builder, question types, validation, translations, accessibility, exports, and spam handling are ongoing engineering work.

Link to a hosted form or survey builder

Your team or your customers create surveys in a separate tool and share a link or an embedded form.

Good fit when: Your own team runs a few surveys, and a separate login and look are acceptable.

Trade-off: Your customers usually need their own account in another product, and results live outside your platform.

Add an in-app feedback widget

A script shows short prompts to your users so your own team can collect product feedback.

Good fit when: Your product team wants to ask your users questions.

Trade-off: These tools are typically built for your team’s research, not for giving each of your customers a survey builder of their own.

Embed a white-label survey engine

Your platform embeds a survey builder, respondent forms, and results inside your own UI, under your login and theme.

Good fit when: Your customers should create and run surveys as a feature of your product.

Trade-off: You integrate signed sessions on your backend and depend on the engine’s roadmap for survey features.
